Archway by Michael Jackobo

A family goes through an arch way in the National Garden, in Athens. My opinion about photos of corridors, like archways, is split: On one hand, if done properly they give impressive results but on the other hand, it is a subject that has been photographed so many times that it has become cliché without much space for experimentation.
The way I usually use corridors in my photography is as a diagonal, with the subject being some other element in the frame. In this photo I wanted to shot the family in the archway but since they were walking away from me, I wouldn’t be able to make the shot I would like, so I raised the camera and saw that the composition was good and I snapped the photo.
