Shooting to the Sky by Michael Jackobo

Century plant stalks, shooting to the sky. A photo I wanted to take for some years but never tried to as I seldom find myself in that area. What I liked about the scenery was the way the lines created by the stalks of the century plants intersected one another and the fact that there is no irrelevant element to come in between the composition, leaving the sky as the background -not something that happens often in Athens.
My initial idea was to make a black and white image with an overcast sky, leaving the contrast and the lines of the stalks, as they are shooting to the sky, to tell the tale. Since that time though, some of my photographic preferences have changed and I have appreciated the means of expression (and the technical difficulties) provided by colour photography, so the final result is different from the initial idea.
