Barren Tree by Michael Jackobo

A barren tree in the midst of a marshland, during the late afternoon hours near the town of Vonitsa, in western Greece. When people find themselves in Vonitsa, they will visit the castle, the port, the island of Koukoumitsa and maybe wander inside the small roads of the town, but, if not no one, at most very few will ever visit the marshlands that are near the city. Marshlands in Amvrakikos gulf are extremely important, as they provide the biodiversity of the area, and through my explorations in the region during those last few years, they have become one of the places I am searching for.
This particular swamp has a grove of eucalyptus trees in the part near the city(1). So I began wandering inside the swamp and I had just exited the grove area, when I saw this barren tree with the empty landscape beside it and I knew immediately that it would be a photograph to be posted in the Photoblog. Enjoy!
(1): Eucalyptus trees absorb too much water and they are very effective when people want to lesser the amount of water in the swamp or even dry it.
