An infrared image of benches on a park at the centre of Athens. In a city where empty spaces and areas of green are few and have a tendency to become even less, the people who live in the district of Exarchia decided to convert an open parking space (which was not operational) to a park; now it is called “Navarinou Park” or simply “The Park” by those who frequent in the area. It may not be much in terms of open space, but the symbolism behind their movement is something that needs to be embraced by more people in the cities.

Μια υπέρυθρη φωτογραφία από παγκάκια σε ένα πάρκο στο κέντρο της Αθήνας. Σε μια πόλη που οι ανοιχτοί χώροι και τα μέρη με πράσινο είναι λίγα και έχουν την τάση να γίνονται λιγότερα, οι κάτοικοι της περιοχής των Εξαρχείων αποφάσισαν να μετατρέψουν ένα ανοιχτό πάρκινκ (που πλέον δε λειτουργούσε) σε πάρκο. Τώρα ονομάζεται «Πάρκο Ναυαρίνου» ή απλά «Το Πάρκο» από αυτούς που συχνάζουν στην περιοχή. Μπορεί να μην είναι κάτι μεγάλο από άποψη ανοιχτού χώρου, αλλά ο συμβολισμός πίσω από την κίνησή τους είναι κάτι που πρέπει να υιοθετηθεί από περισσότερους κατοίκους στις πόλεις.
