A fisherman fixing his net at the port of Amfilochia. The concept of the fisherman is one of the classic photographic themes. Maybe it is the fact that it is a craft whose practices haven’t changed much through time (I obviously don’t talk about large scale commercial fishing), maybe it is the fact that it is about men working with their hands and struggling with the natural elements, maybe it is the extremely powerful enchanting spell of the sea; whatever the reason, a fisherman always draws a photographer to try and use his skills in order to render an interesting image.

Ένας ψαράς φτιάχνει το δίχτυ του στο λιμάνι της Αμφιλοχίας. Οι ψαράδες είναι ένα από τα κλασσικά φωτογραφικά θέματα. Ίσως είναι το γεγονός ότι είναι μια δουλειά που δεν έχει αλλάξει πολύ μέσα στα χρόνια (δε μιλάω για μεγάλης κλίμακας επαγγελματικό ψάρεμα), ίσως είναι το ότι πρόκειται για άντρες που δουλεύουν με τα χέρια τους και παλεύουν με τα στοιχεία της φύσης, ίσως είναι το εξαιρετικά ισχυρό μαγικό κάλεσμα της θάλασσας˙ οποιοσδήποτε ο λόγος, η ιδέα του ψαρά πάντα τραβάει ένα φωτογράφο να προσπαθήσει και να χρησιμοποιήσει τις ικανότητες του για να αποδώσει μια ενδιαφέρουσα εικόνα.
