Photography Exhibition by Michael Jackobo

A woman sitting by a photograph in a photography exhibition. Past spring, I joined the photography group of the Exarchia cultural centre, after the invitation of the centre’s administrator. It was a newly formed group, having taken only the basic lessons but they had already managed to organize one exhibition. When I joined the group, they were preparing their second photography exhibition, which was held this September at the Cultural Centre of the City of Athens.
The photo was taken at the opening of that event. The lighting in the room was awful and not having a flash meant that the limits of the camera were tested in every shot. This is the only image I chose to use, from the few I took that night; I liked the pose of the woman as she was sitting and the combination of the photograph on the easel, makes a reference to the event.

Έκθεση Φωτογραφίας

Μια γυναίκα κάθεται δίπλα σε μια φωτογραφία σε μια έκθεση. Την περασμένη άνοιξη, μπήκα στην φωτογραφική ομάδα του πολιτιστικού κέντρου Εξαρχείων, μετά από πρόσκληση της υπεύθυνης του κέντρου. Ήταν μια νέα ομάδα, που είχαν μάθει μόνο τα βασικά αλλά είχα ήδη διοργανώσει μια έκθεση φωτογραφίας. Όταν μπήκα στην ομάδα, ετοίμαζαν την δεύτερη, που έγινε τον Σεπτέμβριο στο Πολιτιστικό Κέντρο του Δήμου Αθηναίων.
Η φωτογραφία τραβήχτηκε στα εγκαίνια την έκθεσης. Ο φωτισμός του χώρου ήταν χάλια και καθώς δεν είχα φλας, κάθε λήψη ήταν μια δοκιμή για τα όρια της μηχανής. Αυτή είναι η μόνη φωτογραφία που διάλεξα να χρησιμοποιήσω, από τις λίγες που τράβηξα εκείνη τη νύχτα. Μου άρεσε η πόζα της γυναίκας όπως καθόταν και ο συνδυασμός της φωτογραφίας στο καβαλέτο, κάνει και αναφορά στην έκθεση.
