Red Ring by Michael Jackobo

A red ring encloses a docked shop at the harbour of Piraeus. Another photo taken upon the SS Hellas Liberty, at the area of the external bridge of the ship -an area which has all the basic navigation instruments and can be used to command the shop in case of an emergency. In this particular museum/ship, the navigation equipment were taken away and only the supports of the instruments were left, seemingly without a purpose. I as taking pictures of those metal parts when I came upon this circular part.
The concept of a frame within a frame can produce very interesting results when done properly and when I saw this red ring, I explored the way with which I could make it a frame within a frame shot. There was nothing really interesting to enclose inside the red ring so I used this blue ship in the distance to make the photo.

Κόκκινος Κύκλος

Ένας κόκκινος κύκλος περικλείει ένα δεμένο καράβι στο λιμάνι του Πειραιά. Άλλη μια φωτογραφία τραβηγμένη στο Hellas Liberty, στη περιοχή της εξωτερικής γέφυρας -ένα σημείο με όλα τα βασικά όργανα ναυσιπλοΐας που μπορεί να χρησιμοποιηθεί για τη διοίκηση του πλοίου σε περίπτωση έκτακτης ανάγκης. Στο συγκεκριμένο πλοίο/μουσείο, αυτά τα όργανα είχαν αφαιρεθεί και το μόνο που είχε μείνει ήταν οι βάσεις τους, σχεδόν χωρίς λόγο ύπαρξης. Καθώς τραβούσα φωτογραφίες από τα μεταλλικά εξαρτήματα έφτασα και σε αυτό το κυκλικό κομμάτι.
Η ιδέα του κάδρου μέσα σε κάδρο μπορεί να δώσει ενδιαφέρουσες φωτογραφίες αν γίνει σωστά και όταν είδα αυτόν τον κόκκινο κύκλο, έψαξα για τον τρόπο που θα μπορούσα να κάνω μια τέτοια λήψη. Επειδή δεν υπήρχε κάτι το ενδιαφέρον να βάλω μέσα στο κόκκινο δαχτυλίδι, χρησιμοποίησα το μπλε καράβι στο βάθος για να κάνω τη φωτογραφία.
