Surreal Sky by Michael Jackobo

Strange cloud formations on a surreal sky. Although this photograph looks heavily edited in post processing, it actually has had only an auto-levels adjustment applied, on each channel separately. The trick in achieving such extreme results by a single and simple adjustment, in the lack of a pure black or white area in the original image. The software used to enhance the photo (in this case Photoline) will try to create those points, resulting in an extremely unnatural image, which is at the same time quite impressive. Other images in which I have used this technique are “Aerobatics Against the Sun” and “A Line in the Clouds”.
The moral of the story is that you don’t need to spend hours in front of the computer in order to make an interesting image; all that is needed are knowledge and experience, plus a correct image, inside the camera, at the time of the capture. It then only takes a few clicks to make such a surreal sky.

Σουρεαλιστικός Ουρανός

Παράξενα σύννεφα σε ένα σουρεαλιστικό ουρανό. Παρά το γεγονός ότι η φωτογραφία φαίνεται να είναι υπερβολικά πειραγμένη στον υπολογιστή, στην πραγματικότητα το μόνο που έχει γίνει είναι μια ρύθμιση auto-levels, σε κάθε κανάλι ξεχωριστά. Το κόλπο για να τη δημιουργία ενός τόσο ακραίου αποτελέσματος είναι το να μην υπάρχει καμία άσπρη ή μαύρη
περιοχή στην αρχική εικόνα. Το πρόγραμμα που θα χρησιμοποιηθεί για την επεξεργασία της φωτογραφίας θα προσπαθήσει να δημιουργήσει αυτές τις περιοχές, προκαλώντας ένα εντελώς αφύσικο αποτέλεσμα, που ταυτόχρονα είναι και ιδιαίτερα εντυπωσιακό. Άλλες φωτογραφίες που έχω χρησιμοποιήσει αυτή την τεχνική είναι οι «Aerobatics Against the Sun» και «A Line in the Clouds».
Το δίδαγμα αυτής της ιστορίας είναι ότι δε χρειάζεται να περάσει κάποιος ώρες μπροστά στον υπολογιστή για να κάνει μια ενδιαφέρουσα εικόνα˙ τα μόνο που χρειάζονται είναι γνώση και εμπειρία μαζί με μια σωστή εικόνα στη φωτογραφική την ώρα της λήψης.
